In the blink of an eye my oldest child turned 21…
See that girl in the glasses? She’s the one who made me a mom…21 years ago! (as a side note…I must have been 11 when I had her because there is NO way I could possibly be old enough to have a 21 year old!! I still feel like I’m 30! LOL!) There’s so many memories I could share about Meghan but here are a few random ones for you…
- She HATED her 1st birthday cake! I mean HATED it!! haha! She didn’t want to touch it let alone eat it.
- Meghan used to line up her little people or her horses in front of her and create these elaborate stories…mostly in her head although occasionally I would hear her making them talk to each other. This could go on for hours!
- She once had a tick stuck to her head that was so big I had to take her to the ER to get it off! ICK!
- Meghan named her sister Sarah. Months after I miscarried, Meghan was about 3, she looked up at me, and out the blue told me that when God gave us another baby her name would be Sarah. A little more than a year later I had a little girl…and of course we named her Sarah. 🙂
- When Meghan was 18 months, she flipped herself out of her crib! She had piled up a number of stuffed animals then climbed on top, only to find herself on the floor! This was my first foray into the concept that kids fall a lot and 99% of the time they are fine. 🙂
- Right after we moved from the Bay Area to Nevada City, Meghan fell up against a rock fireplace, slicing her neck. She narrowly avoided both her jugular AND getting stitches…at the ER it was decided that glue was enough to hold the cut together. And here’s a great example of the 1% when kids fall down and aren’t fine. 😉
- Horseback riding came easy to Meghan. She started when she was 5 or so and continued riding until she was about 14 or 15. The first horse she ever rode was a Clydesdale. It was huge!!
- When Meghan was 6 one of her favorite things to do was go to the creek in the small town we were living in and float “boats” down stream. (the boats were really just sticks or leaves)
- We moved to Maryland when Meghan was 8 years old. Shortly after that she got to experience her first ever beach when we went on a road trip to Pensacola, FL. She was not impressed with the way the sand gets all up in your swimsuit!
- Meghan is a voracious reader. Some of her favorite childhood books were The Boxcar Children, all of the Harry Potter series and all of the Percy Jackson series. When she was super tiny she wanted me to read Goodnight Moon over and over again.
I could go on and on but instead here are a few pictures of Meghan through the years…just pretend that a “few” actually means 24….LOL!
Happy Birthday Meghan!!! We are so very proud of the lovely young lady you have grown to become.Â
