We didn’t do a huge Easter Gathering this year, electing to keep it small and simple. Some days I love the chaos that comes with lots of kids running around but this year it just seemed right to do Easter low key. An intimate group was perfect for trying out a Breakfast Board. What’s a Breakfast Board? read on and find out!
After church we gathered at my house along with my parents and our most favorites neighbors. The grandparents hid a total of 192 eggs!! Go big or go home! 😉 Our yard is of a decent size with plenty of sneaky hiding spots…although I suspect that a fair amount were just tossed into the ivy! haha! Since the kids are older now, we decided to make their egg hunt more challenging. Each kiddo was given a sticker color to look for and was told to find their color from A-Z and from 1-22…48 eggs for each kid. They searched and searched! After an hour or so (and then a later search by Nick!) all but 9 eggs were found. Somewhere in our yard 9 eggs remain! Too funny- 2 of LAST years eggs were found during the kids hunt! LOL! Doing the egg hunt this way worked really well. It was challenging enough without being frustrating, each kid ended up with, mostly, an equal amount eggs (and therefore candy!) and it gave the adults time to chat (and eat before the kids raided the Breakfast Board buffet!)
Speaking of the buffet…inspired by several cheese boards I’ve done in the past, I decided to do a “Breakfast Board”. I had the intent of making several things from scratch but that didn’t happen! So, instead, store bought to the rescue!
Assembling this board was easy. I included the following (although any breakfasty/brunchy food would work)…
- Biscuits w/two kinds of jam and honey
- French Toast Sticks w/syrup
- Bacon
- Sausage
- Danish
- Grapes
- Blueberries
- Oranges
- Cantaloupe
- Hard-boiled Eggs
- Blueberry and Chocolate Muffins
- Kiwi
- Ham Rolls (baked by my bestie!)
Drinks were kept simple with a kid friendly juice bar providing three types of juice and Sprite so that each guest could blend their own perfect “faux-mosa” (get it? instead of a Mimosa…faux-mosa?? LOL!)
The Breakfast Board was a fun, easy to grab display…plus it looked pretty! 🙂 And the big kid egg hunt was quite a success! I’ll leave you with some pics of my cute kids 🙂

Fun times 😊
“Drinks were kept simple…” until some lush brought ridiculously strong cottontail margaritas. 😁
