Friendsgiving
I love my friends and I couldn’t think of a better time of year to get them together. Obviously I didn’t invent Friendsgiving but boy am I glad someone did!
You’ve heard the saying “friends are the family we choose”…right? Truer words have never been spoken! No matter where we live or what stage of life we are in, Friendsgiving is the perfect time to celebrate those friendships.
I don’t typically host sit down dinners. But for this party I wanted a more formal feel. After all the invites were sent out, (I love Evite.com for cute, easy email invitations) and the RSVP’s were in, I knew I needed seating space for 25. I decided to break up the groups and ended up with three tables. And adult table, a teen table, and a kids table. I happen to have plenty of tables and chairs, but if you don’t you can always borrow from…you know…your friends! I spread the tables out between our kitchen, dining room and den. This way the kids (and teens!) could goof around and have fun without disturbing the more grown-up conversations.
Party Details
Decor– The idea was to let nature shine with a few glamorous elements for the adult table a slightly scaled down version for the teen table and creative fun at the kids table.
Burlap Runner
Cream candles (as many as you can get on the table!)
Clear vases with straw bundles
Cream chargers
White plates
Silver flatware
Cream napkins tied with burlap and adorned with sprigs from my backyard
Sparkly napkin holders
Crystal goblets
I subbed out a few things for the other two tables…including kraft paper “table cloths” with games (tic-tac-toe) drawn right on the paper with plenty of crayons for doodling!
Menu-
I provided:
Turkey Breasts (skip the whole turkey, most people only eat the breast meat anyway)

Slutty Halloween Brownies
Caramel Apple Sheet Cake
Fall Harvest Popcorn
All other goodies were brought by our guests, but they included…
Sweet potato/cranberry bake
Carrot soufflé
Homemade French bread
Mashed potatoes

Drinks-
juice boxes for the kids
sparkling apple cider for the teens
Caramel Apple Sangria
Along with water of course!
Favors-
Each family left with a wooden letter (specific to the first letter of their last name), that I hand wrote “Friendsgiving” 2017 and tied up in a cello bag with a bit of autumn plaid ribbon.
Music-
- John Williams Guitar
This was a massively successful get together. I can’t wait to do it again this year!
