Today I’m going to try and make a case for bringing back the lovely tradition of hostess gifts. If you’ve read any of my other gift posts, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of a small, thoughtful hostess gift…A little something to show your hostess how much you appreciate their efforts in putting together a gathering and inviting you to join them. Back in the day, it was considered down right rude to show up to a dinner party or other get together empty handed…..Bottles of wine, cheese plates, hand towels or a scented candle were happily handed over upon arriving. The hostess, who has been prepping the house and food, feels most appreciated for her efforts. Sadly, it seems that giving a hostess gift has gone out of favor. But I’m going to show you some awesome Etsy finds that will (hopefully!) convince you to bring back the hostess gift tradition.
etsy rocks!
Etsy is just the most lovely place on the internet (pinterest is a solid second place!), it’s loaded with one of a kind items made (mostly) by small, at home businesses. Online shopping is the bomb but I prefer to support small businesses but unless you have a quaint downtown, there likely aren’t many small shops to choose from. Etsy combines the best of both worlds!
take a look at these fall hostess gifts…
1. candle and sugar scrub gift set
4. “harvest” and “thankful” pillows
5. leaf soaps
6. drink charms
9. napkin rings
Cute, right? Did I convince you? I encourage you to pick up a few little things and have them at the ready for all your hostess gifting needs. I promise your hostess will appreciate your thoughtful gesture.
