Fancy Pants- Trunk Club

March 6, 2019 by Tina Anthis

It’s time for another Trunk Club style review. My main goal for this go-round was pants…specifically fancy pants. Now I don’t have a ton of reasons to own a pair of fancy pants but when an occasion does pop up I wanted to know I’d be covered with some appropriate attire.

I’ll let you in on a little secret…I would have quite thrilled if any of the black jeggings/jeans fit properly. I can easily dress them up or wear them more casual, and I know I would get much more wear out of jeans than fancy pants but alas, none of the 97 pairs of black jeans I’ve tried on over the past several months have been just right. (ok, maybe 97 is an exaggeration but you get my drift!). But it turns out I was very pleased with the dressier pair of black pants that showed up in my February Trunk Club box.

Pants, and more pants (with a few tops thrown in for good measure)

There are three pairs of black denim shown above. None of which fit just right. One was too high rise (like over belly button high rise), one was too big (would’ve been massively stretched out by the end of the day and one baggy in the butt (a not unusual problem for me #flatbehind). So, it was a given that all of the jeans were going back.

Now let’s talk about the tops (and the jacket)

The pink top was so soft and I loved the color BUT it was meant to be worn off the shoulder and you know what that means!…strapless bra! UGH! nope.

The grey knotted top hung weird on me.

The olive green top was enormous! It could easily pass for a maternity top.

The grey star sleeve, dolman top just wasn’t my style.

The jackets was too small. Way too tight across the chest and the arms were too small too. I did like the thumb hole cut outs, perfect on a chilly day.

Time for the fancy pants!

I was a bit worried when I saw the higher rise on the black fancy pants and there was a belt thing too. But when I had them on I liked how they felt and I can easily imagine them with nude heels and a blouse or a dressier tank. (pardon my tank top in these pics but I wanted to illustrate how the pants would work with something more fitted. (please excuse the not so clean bathroom mirror!)

The navy blouse (my exact one is sold out but there are several other colors) is one I kept from a previous Trunk Club delivery. Here it is shown more casually (with yet another pair of black jeans that didn’t work! ha!) and….I see this mirror isn’t much better! I promise there are no white spots on either the blouse or the jeans. #imnotafashionblogger 🙂 I wear the heck out of this top and those boots.

So I kept the wide leg fancy pants. Now I just have to wait for a reason to wear them!! 🙂
