Decent weather prompted us to make a quick trip out to Fort Smallwood, a small regional park on the Chesapeake Bay. Apparently at one time, it was owned by Baltimore City and was a popular place for city residents to go on weekends for picnics and swimming. It’s popularity died out when places like Ocean City became more accessible after the Chesapeake Bay Bridge was completed. There’s an old Battery which helped to defend the Bay in the late 1800’s……………………………………
We avoided the swimming beach and instead headed for a smaller, quieter beach where the shells and sea glass (and random crab parts) are plentiful.
The weather was perfect…………
The water was beautiful……………
and I got to spend time with this guy!
A few feet pics for your viewing pleasure! 😉
After finding a number of treasures we decided to hit up the local Friendly’s for dinner…..
and finally, on the way home, we saw a beautiful sunset……………
Fort Smallwood is an easy 30 minute drive for us. It’s an easy, fun way to spend an afternoon. 🙂
