Have you heard about Grove Collaborative? It’s all over Facebook and YouTube? No? Well, Grove Collaborative is an online company that strives to provide top quality, earth friendly products. Their mission is simple…
“Our mission is to inspire every family to create and sustain a healthy, beautiful home. Together, we can bring sustainability, safety, and transparency to an industry long dominated by products laden with harmful chemicals that put profit before consumer and environmental health.”
Grove Collaborative first came onto my radar a couple of months ago when a gal I follow on Facebook did a hillarious yet thorough video review of her first box. I don’t know about you but I’m not a huge fan of cleaning. Scrubbing toilets and wiping down mirrors is not the first thing I chose to do when given a free ten minutes…read? sure…paint my nails? bring it on! But clean?-nope. I will admit I placed my first order simply to get the free stuff. BUT when my delivery arrived I was surprised when I felt excited about opening it….wait…what…it’s a box of stuff to clean my house and I was excited…weird.
Turns out it felt like opening a present! LOL! Everything was wrapped up so nicely and lets face it, the whole box smelled like clean…I love the smell of clean! 🙂
Along with my first order, I signed up for their VIP program (under a 60 day free trial). With VIP, you get free shipping all the time, free gifts (and nice ones too!) and early access to new products. After 60 days the program costs $19.99/year. To give you an idea if that $19.99 is worth it here is the break down…
- shipping for non-VIP members is $2.99
- order minimums apply: $10 in products for “recurring” shipments, $30 in products for non-VIP “ship now” orders
- if you place a minimum of 5 orders in a years time, then the VIP program make sense for you
- if you think you will only order from Grove every now and then, perhaps it makes more sense to use their flat rate, $2.99, shipping option (as long as you meet their price minimums)
Honestly I wasn’t sure if the VIP program would actually save me money but I went for it anyway (yay for free trials!). BUT, after just two shipments, I’m sold on it. The free gifts are what hooked me!
SO, just what are these free gifts…In my first order I received the following free gifts…
- Mrs Meyer’s Multi-Purpose Everyday Spray (lemon verbena)
- Mrs Meyer’s Hand Soap (lavender)
- Mrs Meyer’s Dish Soap (lemon verbena)
- Dish Scrubber with a Bamboo handle
- Grove Collaborative Dish Towel
Because I signed up under someone elses referral link, I received a 5-piece free gift set instead of the usual 4-piece. If you are interested in getting more free stuff, check out the info at the end of this post. In my second shipment I received a bottle of Grove Collaborative Hand Sanitizing Spray (blood orange), a $3.95 value. I’m not a huge germaphobe so hand sanitizer has never really been on my radar but this stuff smells amazing and leaves my hands all kinds of soft. Is it “sanitizing” my hands like an alcohol based hand sanitizer? Honestly I have no idea…but for the feel and smell alone, it’s totally worth giving it a shot!
From what I can tell, each free gift has a value of atleast $2.99. I can see, when I log into my account, that my next free gift is a lip balm (valued at $3.95). Also, there is always something else free when you spend over a certain amount. My upcoming offer is the Grove Castile Soap (apparently it’s an all purpose type soap)
It looks like the current free gift (new customers only) is a set from Mrs Meyer’s, and includes dish soap, hand soap and hand lotion plus a pretty tray to keep everything looking tidy.
New VIP customers are automatically set up with “auto shipments” but don’t let that scare you away! You can modify that at any time. You can change the date of shipments, you can delete products you don’t want or need, you can add new products any time and you can skip, delay or cancel auto shipments at any point. Don’t worry if you forget to log into your account and make any modifications…you will receive several emails reminding you of upcoming shipments so that you can go into your account and make any changes (or skip that order all together!)
I tend to not run out of products at the rate that Grove wants to send me more…hmmmm….maybe that means I’m not cleaning enough! LOL! But that’s no problem, I just went into my account and changed the date (as well as took a few items out of my carts and added a few new ones in!). Super easy.
What about the products themselves…I have found the prices to be the exact same as those I would pay for the exact same products at Target. So, why not just buy from Target? I feel that Grove has a larger selection of earth friendly choices. Most of the Target aisles are packed with conventional cleaning products…like those from Windex or Clorox. Don’t get me wrong, those products are fine, it’s just that I’m trying to use products in our home that have way less chemicals and Grove gives me plenty to choose from!
So far I have tried…
- The above Mrs Meyer’s products (dish soap, hand soap and the multi-purpose spray)
- Method Anti-Bac Toilet cleaner (has a minty smell…nice and fresh)
- Method Hand Soap (Pink Grapefruit)
- Aunt Fannies Mosquito Wipes (strong smell, but seems to work!)
- Grove Reusable Snack bags and Sandwich Bags
- Grove glass spray bottles
- Grove Glass Cleaner Concentrate
- Grove All-Purpose Cleaning Concentrate
- Grove Tub and Tile Cleaning Concentrate
- Yes to Cotton, eye make-up remover pads
My favorites by far are the concentrates and the glass spray bottles! I don’t know what it is but there is just something about squeezing that little tube of concentrate into the bottle and shaking it up. I feel like I’m creating something…silly I know! haha! It doesn’t hurt that the bottles are pretty and feel good in my hand. I find myself looking for reasons to spray something down! LOL!
The reusable bags have been great too. I had to drill it into my kids heads to not throw them away at the end of the lunch period at school. I was worried, but so far so good! All of the bags have made it back home. I don’t know how it is at your house but we use a LOT of baggies so these make me feel like I’m doing my part in keeping all that plastic out of the land fills.
While I love the name brand stuff, the Grove Collaborative items have really been the show stoppers. The quality of the bottles, towels, scrubbers and cleaning products have been top notch. I’m looking forward to trying out more! Here are a couple of things I’ve got my eye on and will most likely wind up in one of my next shipments…
Reusable Gallon Bags
Grove Hand Cream- Bergamot Orange
Badger Balm AntiBug Sunscreen
Murphys Soothing Bug Bite Balm
So far, I’ve been really impressed with my Grove Collaborative experience. If you are interested in giving it a go, you may consider using my referral link. You still get great prices and in addition, you would receive a 5-piece gift set (instead of the usual 4-piece pictured above) with your first order. I would receive a $10 credit to be used on my future Grove purchases….it’s a win-win!
