Homemade Lemonade…something I’ve always wanted to try but never took the time. When we were setting up our summer “bucket list” we wanted to add in a few of those Pinterest-y things we’ve never gotten around to. Homemade Lemonade was an easy addition. Read on to see our super easy recipe!Like so many people (well, atleast Pinterest people) we have a “summer bucket list”. It has some pretty basic things on there like…
- go out for frozen yogurt
- have a Slurpee
- watch fireworks
- have a picnic
We have some big ideas too…
- go to the beach
- go on a roadtrip
- visit a museum
and then we threw in a few quirky ones for good measure…
- learn something (anything!) new
- catch fireflies
- make homemade lemonade
That last one is something my kids were sure we weren’t actually going to do! Much to their surprise I came home with two big bags of lemons and a hand-held lemon juicer thing. We got right down to it…
Homemade Lemonade
2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 12-14 lemons)
3/4 cup granulated sugar (more if you want it sweeter!)
5 cups warm water (I used warm to help stir the sugar in and then poured it over ice to chill)
optional ingredients:
fresh mint (muddle or use for garnish)
2-3 fresh strawberries (muddle or puree then strain)
2-4 mango chunks (puree then strain)
1/8 cup blueberries (puree then strain)
(Equipment: juicer, blender, measuring cups/bowls and a strainer)
We ended up with:
Strawberry-Mint Lemonade (me)
Mango-Lemonade (Joshua)
Strawberry Lemonade (Sofia)
Mango-Blueberry-Mint Lemonade (Sarah)
They were all delish!
