My 10 year daughter has NOT shown any interest in any type of fashion ever before in her life…Much to the chagrin of her older sister (with whom she shares a bedroom). Sarah, the 17 year old, has been accessorizing since she could crawl! She would literally hook a purse around her neck and crawl around with it dragging behind her. As soon as she could walk she wore beaded necklaces and she has NEVER cared about toys only clothes and shoes. Seriously what 5 year old do you know that would shun toys in favor a pair of furry boots? She was putting together cute outfits at the age of 2. AND…..then came Sofia. Sofia’s idea of matching is wearing all of one color regardless of shade. She pays no attention to pattern or style or…well…anything. As she about to enter 5th grade Sarah and I have decided that while she may never be a fashionista, she atleast needs to know some basics. So off to Justice we went!Upon entering Justice, Sarah and I started quizzing Sofia on what goes with what. She was doing pretty good until she saw a pair of floral shorts and then found a top in the same exact fabric. She could not understand why you wouldn’t want to put them both together! LOL! Sarah pulled a couple of things for her and she headed into the dressing room. Here’s what she tried on…
mesh, color-block active wear leggings with geometric glitter tank
same leggings as above but with this owl flip-sequin top
Tassel Pattern soft shorts and crochet bell sleeve pheasant top
Lace up plaid skirt with basic black v-neck tee (and don’t forget the rose gold kitty cat ball cap!)
She fell in love with the skirt (which has built in shorts) and black tee. So that outfit came home with us. She’s decided it will be her 1st day of school outfit. We left the hat only because, while it’s very cute, kids aren’t allowed to wear hats at her school. Everything was either an 8 or 10 except the pheasant top which was a 6/7. An 8 or larger would have swallowed her up in this style!
After we left, Sofia declared Justice to be the best store ever! haha! Maybe there’s fashion hope for her yet! I plan on hopping online and seeing what’s on sale. Now that I know what sizes she needs at Justice, it will be easy to take advantage of sales and over time she can build up a cute wardrobe…that matches! 🙂
