Life Lately- Summer Edition

July 17, 2018 by Tina Anthis

It’s been a while! A concussion sidelined my blogging for a couple of weeks, but I’m on the mend and things are getting back to normal around here. Here’s a look at what’s been going on in my life lately….Summer is in full swing! For our family that means swimming and generally being outside as much as we can stand it #humiditysucks. 😉

summer swimming

Sometimes Summer swimming actually means pool acrobatics! (Thanks Sarah for letting these monkeys climb all over you!)

summer grilling

We’ve been making good use of our new outdoor dining set…eating out on our deck as much as we possibly can. This particular night found us having grilled chicken legs, pork chops, chicken skewers and steak plus some tasty corn and a fruit salad. The chicken just got a healthy dose of Lawerys Seasoning Salt. The Pork Chops were rubbed down with a chipotle-lime seasoning blend and the steak sat around for a while in my go-to marinade (more details on that can be found here)

4th july fireworks

Fireworks made the Summer agenda this year. It’s helps that the park right behind our development put on their first ever firework show. We loaded up our wagon with food, chairs, a blanket, bug spray and a few glow-y sticks and had ourselves a super fun time.

Please note Sofia’s selfies…I think she had fun with my phone! 😉

The glow sticks were a fun way to kill time until the big show.

The night was capped off with a very nice fireworks display. What’s funny though is the wind must have been blowing just right as we found debris raining down on us in the form of ash and bits and pieces of the fireworks…we weren’t that close to where they were setting them off but I’m pretty sure we all went home with ash in hair! LOL!

The Summer heat does keep us inside sometimes so in the name of banning the boredom bug…out came the kids Legos. We cleared space in our living room and dumped them all out. They had a blast building and creating. This lasted a week until I stepped on one Lego too many and then they had to go! haha!

summer movie

Outdoor movies are a Summer must! Last year we did all our movies outside on the driveway. This Summer we decided to try setting up our huge screen in the backyard so the kids could hang out in the pool while watching. This first movie night found us watching Wonder Woman. Add in some awesome neighbors, pre-movie grilling, swimming and S’mores…it was a perfect summer night. 🙂

summer firefly

My kids have become expert firefly catchers.

summer sleepover

All of this…for ONE night at Nana’s house. I don’t think my kids understand the term “pack light”. 😉

hyundai elantra GT

Someone bought her very own car!! So exciting! You know what’s even more exciting??? Getting one of our kids off of our insurance! Cha-ching! LOL!

That’s it for now! Thanks for checking in on my life lately. 🙂
