Off to California! (again)

November 5, 2018 by Tina Anthis

My father in law passed away a couple of weeks ago and so four of us (the two older girls had too many obligations here at home so they couldn’t come with us) flew out to California for the funeral. We had three flights to get out there and two to get back, which meant a lot of take offs and landing! My little kids have really suffered in the past with ear pain, especially upon landing. I was dreading FIVE landings…but then I found these little miracles in a box!!

ear planes

Oh my! The kids had ZERO ear pain for all five flights. Where have these things been all my life?? Seriously…if your kids deal with pain (or you, they have adult sizes too), you NEED these!! We’ll never fly without them again.

Despite being in California for a funeral, we still managed to get some fun times in too. We stayed in a nice hotel in Victorville. I’ll admit it, I’m not a fan of the desert but I will say the sunsets were beautiful!!

The kids had fun at the Get Air Trampoline play place…

Mini golf happened to be right next door to our hotel… (I won BTW)

And they even had some arcade fun…

I won’t lie, the funeral was HARD. Seeing Nick cry, seeing my father in laws body in the casket and then getting lowered into the ground…all of that was hard. But honestly the hardest thing for me to deal with was seeing my kids so sad! Oh my! 🙁 Joshua was quite crushed. He cried a lot. But as hard as all of that was, I’m glad he got to go through the process. Knowing that death happens and that we can mourn and grieve is important. It’s also important to show how we can move forward and so after the funeral, during the reception we took the opportunity to enjoy the grounds. We saw turtles and lots of birds and we ate tasty snacks and visited with people we knew and even met some new relatives. I grabbed a couple of cute pics of my kiddos…

HA, HA! Look at my kids sleeping at the hotel! I had to wake them at 3 am to get up for our flight back home. This might be a blackmail picture some day! LOL!

We were glad to get back home and get back to our normal stuff!
