Last week I brought you a review of Rockets of Awesome, a style delivery company for kids. Well, they offer styles for both girls AND boys so, of course, I had to try both…you know, since I have a girl AND a boy, LOL! If you missed the girl review, click here. Read on for my review of the boys box……………………………………….Quick overview of Rockets of Awesome…
- $5 styling fee applied to your purchase
- 8 items come in a box
- you can preview the box and make some changes prior to shipping
- you have 5 days to try the clothes and and make your choices
- if you choose to keep all 8 items the price is $150 (an average savings of $30-40)
- shipping both ways is free, you just need to use the prepaid mailer to return the items you don’t want.
- Rockets of Awesome uses original designs for all of their clothing pieces.
I was pretty pleased with my daughters delivery. She ended up liking four of the eight items and ultimately kept two. In the interest of fairness, I put the same parameters on Joshua too.
This is what showed up for Joshua to try:
Let the fashion show begin!
- Black “gamer” shirt with burgundy joggers. He thought the fabric of the shirt was weird and too “slippery” and while he liked the color of the joggers he said they felt “rubbery”…whatever that means! haha!
- Orange basketball t-shirt with black shorts. Orange is Joshua’s favorite color, so I knew he’d love this top. He thought it was weird that the shorts only had stripes on one of the legs
- “Super Sonic” hoodie with skinny jeans. Liked the hoodie until he saw there were no pockets. Jeans were soft and stretchy
- Stripe short sleeve t-shirt with same skinny jeans. He said the top was extra soft and the pocket was a huge hit.
- Long sleeve stripe shirt with same skinny jeans. Shirt was “kinda boring”.
After a bit of back and forth he decided on these….
Stripe short sleeve top with skinny jeans. I was surprised the orange shirt didn’t make the cut! But the soft top and stretchy jeans won out. I love the jeans on him but I am a bit concerned about the button…it’s rather stiff and I could see him struggling with it at school. I need to find a way to loosen it up.
Ok, so we’ve seen both boxes and ultimately I think we will give Rockets of Awesome another try. I think the boy box has a slight edge up just because it seemed easier to put outfits together…but then lets face it, it’s pretty hard to go wrong with a basic pair of jeans where all the tops can be worn with them.
Typically I buy Joshua’s clothes when I happen to be in Target for something else, and he isn’t typically with me, so he gets what he gets! So the idea that he got some say-so AND that he was able to try everything on quickly and “be done” was a win-win!
