Setting up a Hot Cocoa Bar

December 10, 2018 by Tina Anthis

This year I decided to set out a hot cocoa bar. After we (finally!) installed a microwave above the stove, we were able to get rid of the countertop model. This freed up some valuable space! I figure during the year I will keep the toaster there, but for the month of December I thought it would be cute to have a hot cocoa bar available to warm up on those chilly winter days.

Setting up my hot cocoa bar was really simple! I grabbed up a couple different kind of cocoa flavors at the grocery store, raided my jelly jar stash and before I knew it I ended up with this…

Cute right? 🙂 Now we are going to just overlook the fact that my husbands DIABETES supplies are in the top part of the basket display. LOL! I mean…atleast we are all prepared with insulin for those times we over indulge in sugary goodness! 😉 Of course I’m just kidding…diabetes is a serious medical condition and while it might seem in poor taste to put out such temptations for my husband…he is in full support of this little corner. 🙂

I could have just put the cocoa cans out instead of these cute jars, but really everything looks so much more elevated when you decant into stylish containers. I added a jar of marshmallows (with a fun little fork) plus a couple of spoons from my silver set to really set this area apart from the rest of my kitchen.

And here’s a close-up of everything. The snowman, santa and reindeer mugs are all from Pottery Barn. The gingerbread tray is from Kohls (last year), the glass milk bottle came from a local antique store and the sign in the back is an oldie but goodie that I’ve had for so long that I have NO idea where it came from! LOL!

I’ve been trying to put out freshly baked cookies each day as a snack for my kids after they walk home from school. Now, most days I’ve just been cheating and using that ready to bake dough from Pillsbury, but if you are looking for something a little more homemade, try these Cranberry-White Chocolate Chip Cookies…YUM!

Setting up a hot cocoa bar is super simple! A tiny portion of your countertop, a few easily obtainable supplies and you will be off and running!

Check out last years hot cocoa party!
