What’s Up Wednesday!

January 30, 2019 by Tina Anthis

New year…new What’s Up Wednesday link up. The last Wednesday of each month Shay and Sheaffer host a fun link up where bloggers all over answer the same questions. I’ll admit my answers are usually pretty darn boring…but it’s fun to see everyone elses!

what we are eating this week…

Well I wish I had bright, lively pictures of our meals this week…BUT I would say our dinners are too basic to be pretty (in a foodie blogging kind of way). So I’ll just list them out…

  • Chicken pot pie with salad
  • Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli
  • Tortellini with bread
  • Cheesy bacon and ranch chicken frito casserole
  • Pesto shrimp pasta
  • French dip sandwiches with whatever needs using up in the fridge

what i’m remembering about…

Grenada carnival

all things cruise related!! Yes, I’m still in cruise mode…so much so, in fact, that I just booked our next TWO cruises! One in early 2020 and the other early in 2021. Hey, don’t judge me! We love our cruises! LOL! 😉

what i’m loving…

  • color the world lipstick
  • color the world lipstick

Color the World Lipstick! Cute packaging , pretty colors that go on smooth and a portion of the purchase price donated to worthy causes….perfect! I have been on the lookout for the perfect nude lipstick. I used to use a cheapo one from NYX, but it was discontinued…because of course it was! Doesn’t it seem whenever you find the perfect shade of something, it gets discontinued?! ugh. Well, I’m not sure if this is the PERFECT nude shade but it is lovely and feels great going on. This shade is Cashmere. All lipsticks are 25% off right now which makes this a great time to check them out.

what we’ve been up to…

music festival

Sofia took part in a “Day of Music”. She is a percussionist (see her in the way, way back? In the middle?) and the advanced band members at her school got to hang out at the local highschool with 175 other elementary and middle school kids to learn some great musical pieces. At the end of the day, all those kids crammed onto (and in front of) the stage and played the two pieces they learned that day. They did great!! I only heard a couple of squeaks from a couple of clarinets, otherwise they sounded good! Afterward the highschool band played five numbers for everyone and let me tell you, they sounded awesome! The Star Trek number was particularly great.

what i’m dreading…

safeway

…..the same thing I’m always dreading…GROCERY SHOPPING! Do you see the hot mess above? What the hell Safeway??!! Why, WHY…must you rearrange things. Just when I know where everything is in the store they go and move everything around! gah! AND…why must they cram all of their employees in one aisle? Do you think I was able to get down this aisle? nope. no yogurt coming home with me today. Seriously, I hate grocery shopping already, but now that I have to learn where all the stuff is…well, lets just say I’m dreading it for sure.

what i’m working on…

  • mindful grey gray sherwin williams
  • mindful grey gray sherwin williams

Painting! I finally got off my lazy behind and painted the upstairs hallway and our bedroom. Naturally I used my go to paint color…Mindful Grey by Sherwin Williams (by the way, is it g-r-E-y or g-r-A-y?). But this time I was worried that straight out of the can would be too dark for my already dark hallway so I had it lightened by 50%. I’m very pleased with the outcome! The second picture gives a better representation of how the color looks on the walls. Now, I have to figure out how I’m going to paint the tall portions of the stairwell.

what i’m excited about…

stitch fix

I have a Stitch Fix box on it’s way to me!! Always fun to see what arrives. I am hoping for black skinny jeans and tunic tops to wear with my leggings and tall boots.

what i’m watching and reading…

I’ve been watching (on Amazon Prime) Prime Suspect. It’s a police procedural that takes place in 70’s London. The storyline is pretty good but the music, the setting and costuming really steals the show and takes you right back to the 70’s.

As for reading…be on the lookout for my January book review. Hopefully it will be up tomorrow! In the meantime you can take a peek at what was on my Kindle while we were cruising the Caribbean. 🙂

what I’m wearing…

These joggers and this sweatshirt have been on massive repeat around here.

what i’m doing this weekend…

Tea time! A friend of mine (from England) is hosting a traditional tea at her house on Saturday. Should be fun. 🙂

what i’m looking forward to next month…

We’re headed to Wisp for a long weekend! We will hit the tubing hill and the snow coaster (I think) and I have one kid who thinks he may want to do ski school this year. But no matter what we do it will be awesome because we get to hang out with my bestie and her family! 🙂

what else is new…

hmmmm…..nothing else that I can think of!

bonus question of the month…What’s your favorite family valentines day tradition…

heart shaped food valentines pizza family

I like to set a pretty table and have a heart themed dinner. You know I cut fruit into heart shapes and things like that. Each kiddo gets a little heart box of chocolates that sits at their place setting. Here’s some fun ideas if you are looking to do more to celebrate Valentines Day.

That wraps up What’s Up Wednesday! See you soon!
